Day 140: Te Anau 0 Day
Tuesday, April 18
I woke up early to pack my food resupply and the rest of my backpack. After I ate some fruit Jen let me know everyone was up at the Holiday Park. I grabbed some breakfast ingredients at the Fresh Choice on my way over there.
When I walked in to their cabin they were in full fledged breakfast making mode. It was amazing. There were loads of pancakes Alex had made plus bacon, toast, eggs, and oranges. We all decided to take a zero day in Te Anau while we ate.
After checking into the Holiday Park for the day, Jen, Jeremy and I went to town to get stuff to make dinner. We ran into people Jen and Jeremy had met in the last section and a NOBO-er.
We ended up playing mini golf before going to the store. It was really fun. Jeremy ended up winning, but I got 2 holes-in-one. I had a lot of putts on some holes though!
Once the game was over we quickly went to the store to get stir fry ingredients. The six of us had the spa and sauna at the Holiday Park reserved at 5 pm. When we dropped the food off, we saw a note that Spencer, Shaida and Alex had moved the reservation back to 7 since we weren't back.
I packed a few more hiking snacks I'd gotten from the store and made guacamole for everyone. Alex, Shaida and Spencer got back but quickly left to get drinks for dinner and the spa. We all had a lot of fun in the spa and sauna. It was just a big bathtub with a steam room, but it was relaxing. We should have booked two time slots because it took awhile to get the steam room hot and the tub filled up to make a little hot tub. Luckily nobody had it reserved after us.
I got too hot before everyone else, so I took a quick cold shower and started making dinner. There were lots of veggies to chop and I'm a notoriously slow veggie chopper, so I didn't think I'd be done before everyone got done in the sauna.
Jeremy came and helped chop veggies, and then Jen and everyone else. We had a really big stir fry!
After dinner I was pretty exhausted so I went to bed.
